Waxwings again

I was surprised to find 19 Waxwings today at 4:20pm perched on TV Ariels in Lidderdale Road, off Smithdown Road; this is a really strange place to find them and I have no idea where they must be feeding (treeless terraced streets) unless they where just passing through. I will have a search tomorrow, fingers crossed. Cant believe I am still tripping over these things, I have never known a winter like it for them! Lots of Mipits and Wagtails moving over Liverpool University today and Colts Foot in flower on Brownlow Hill/Metropolitan Cathedral.

Delighted to see 20 or more Waxwings again today. I teach at Gilmour Infants School on Southbank Road, Garston. The birds were in a large beech tree at the front of the school. They stayed in the beautiful sunshine for a couple of hours but sadly left by lunchtime. Needless to say I abandoned my maths lesson and introduced my 5 and 6 year olds to the wonders of migration!

20-30 waxwings coming down to berry bush at top of Cheyne Gardens ( off Aigburth Rd ) this morning. Friend wanted to know what those starling sized birds with the jazzy hairdos were.

More Waxwings! Are they now the most common bird in Britain? Cycling up to work from the river and saw a flock of 30 or so Waxwings on Cressington Road, 50 yards from the garage on Aigburth Road. Wonder if they are the same flock I saw at school yesterday.
